![]() ![]() I was hoping someone might notice and be able to help out, but that hasn't happened. Unfortunately what I described in the newsgroup is still up-to-date as far as things are with us, and my understanding is still limited to what I've discovered on my own. ![]() Here's what I responded with: Thanks for your email. He didn't ask in a public forum though and I never heard anything back after I wrote all this, so I have no idea what came out of it. ![]() Back in August 2008 however, I received an email from someone asking if I'd figured anything out. That's hardly ideal for us, but I gave up some time ago because it wasn't a high priority. We can work around the problem by developing COM add-ins instead of templates to add to the Ribbon, and if we have a COM add-in that defines the same group as a template (then merges by using the same namespace), then the group can be added to the QAT with all its buttons even though the individual buttons defined by the template still won't stick. ![]() We're now running Office 2007 SP2 and anecdotally having just checked, I still observe the same issue. The original post is visible in Google Groups at I haven't made any useful progress on this. It won't let me respond to you over there without becoming a member, and I also don't have any usenet software that'll let me post back to usenet right now. I'm the Mike from that other thread to which you linked - EggHeadCafe apparently imported my post from Usenet (and then sent me an email when you responded in their forum) but I've never been an EggHeadCafe user. Please let me know if you make any progress on this. I am no closer to a solution, but I did find one other person reporting the same issue. Any ideas why this is happening and how I can fix it? This problem is happening for multiple users at multiple sites (although I have not been able to reproduce it on my own computer). But sometimes the buttons disappear the very first time the user closes and reopens Word. The length of time that passes before the buttons disappear varies, but is usually a couple days - enough time for the user to close and reopen Word several times, and to reboot the computer a time or two. Buttons that the user has added from Word's standard ribbon remain intact on the QAT, but all buttons that have been added from the custom tab disappear. The added QAT buttons work fine for a day or two, but eventually the user opens Word to discover that the added buttons have disappeared from the QAT. The problem arises when users add buttons from the custom tab to their Quick Access Toolbar (QAT). The template includes a custom tab for the ribbon, and all of the commands on the added tab are working correctly. dotm file) from Word's Startup folder (C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\Startup). Using Word 2007 on Windows XP, I am loading a global template (a. ![]()
